STALKER! or, The Universalness of Water

As I walked past the school drinking fountains this morning, I was suddenly possessed with a desire to rig a camera to take a picture of them every time someone pushed the button for a drink. What would you see?
I have stalker tendencies. I will (sort of) inconspicuously follow an interesting person for no other reason than to observe them. Cities make me happy because they provide an endless wealth of people to observe. I DO NOT DO THIS MALICIOUSLY. I have a nosy, inquisitive desire to see at least a tiny sliver of other people's lives, of their thoughts. Now you tell me, is this a bad thing or a good thing? COMMENT. I don't usually demand comments, but this time I want to know. I have an opinion, but it isn't coming out of the bag till I get some feedback.

Personally, I'm a huge people-watcher, too. Different personalities are just super interesting to observe. I think the drinking fountain thing is borderline creepy, but I can relate with the people-person part. :P

yeah I agree with you and Nate. People are so fascinating, I love the fact that no one is 'normal' or the same. Each to their own. However as both you and Nate have experienced Kilkeel 'people-watching' does not strike up quite the same interest in me as it would in a place crowded with people. Oh well...

Good point Lucie..

I think it is a valid human want to see how other people live without them knowing or realizing..

At least that's what a write it off as!

Because.. you know.. i'm browsing blogs at 3AM on a tuesday..

which is kinda stalkerish.

it's a good thing! people watching is awesome, I think only someone who is totally self-obsessed wouldn't do that. :)

I realize this was written quite a while ago, but it's not often I'm invited/commanded to share my two cents. ;)

Having lived in a place devoid of people-watchers (using the phrase brings about blank stares) I've come to the conclusion that's it's a personality trait somewhat linked to living around lots of people. Possessing this curious nature, I think it can be a very good thing. Why else do we watch movies? Read stories? As selfish as we all are, we do want to be somehow involved in something outside of ourselves. Sometimes merely to see if other people have common experiences, likes/dislikes to ours; sometimes to observe someone totally different. People are created in the image of God, and I find his infinite creativity in designing us a wondrous thing, something that should be observed and appreciated.

That being said, as interesting as the drinking fountain pictures would be, it's probably an invasion of privacy...
